"With great power comes great responsibility"
Food Distributors:
I think Food Distributors and their suppliers (vendors) are kind of the unsung heroes over the last couple of years. With about 13 food distribution companies, comprising 860 distribution centers, they kept America pretty well fed through-out the pandemic. While all distribution and supply chains around the world suffered, these fierce 13 American companies figured out a way to keep the warehouses running and trucks rolling through an obviously precipitous sales loss. This commitment to keep going during the difficult times, ensured that their customers were able were able to serve their customers, and made the nightmare for all of us just a little more palatable.
I say kudos all around!
Restaurants/Kitchens:
As stated in both the Order & Delivery and Digital sections, the Food On-Demand industry is in a major flux, requiring restaurants/kitchens to reevaluate their methods, partnerships and systems if they expect to thrive, more importantly survive. Food distributors should not only be meeting your supply needs, but should be able to be relied upon as a good educational resource, for establishing partnerships across all associated disciplines. Restaurants/kitchens need to map out their needs for brands, technology, industry associations, etc., and ask their food distributors for help. Food distributors have contacts and education in every facet of the industry, utilize their expertise! Although, if your food distributor is unable or unwilling to help, find a new distributor who will!
